Sanford and the Trayvon Martin Tragedy: A Lesson in Crisis Communications

Susan Vernon-Devlin, director of public relations services at Massey Communications, knows how to manage a crisis. For her, it’s all in a day’s work. After all, her team was tapped by the City of Sanford following the Trayvon Martin tragedy to help rebuild trust in the City’s government. You don’t want to miss the FPRA-Orlando Area Chapter’s June 28 program in which you’ll learn how Susan used her experience with local government in teaming up with the City of Sanford during the crisis and how you can assist your company with overall preparedness in case a crisis strikes.

Susan will draw on her crisis communications experience, specifically her development of community outreach and media relations programs for the cities of Casselberry and Oviedo, and for Seminole County Government. Susan is a certified Advanced Public Information Officer trained in crisis communications through The Department of Homeland Security Office of Emergency Management and FEMA.

The Orlando Area Chapter’s breakfast meeting will take place on Thursday, June 28 at the University Club in downtown Orlando. Registration and breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. with the program starting promptly at 8:30 a.m. Register online at before the event sells out!
